Early Career
Born and raised in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Raymond is the second youngest of six children. His father, John J. Raymond Sr., was a well-known tax attorney in Detroit & Palm Beach.
During his tenure at the University of Miami, he garnered the attention of his professor, Roy Black, who later hired and mentored Raymond.
First Major Victory
1986 – $71 Million Verdict
Raymond’s first trial resulted in a $71 million jury verdict for the receiver for ESM Government Securities Inc., a collapsed Fort Lauderdale-based government securities dealer, in a case against a national accounting firm.

About
Mark F. Raymond is the Managing Partner of the Miami office of the national law firm, Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP, with annual revenues in excess of $1 billion. He serves as co-leader of the firm’s litigation practice — one of eight partners who manage nearly 560 litigators nationwide. He also serves as Co-Chair of the firm’s Securities and Corporate Governance Litigation Practice.
Throughout his career, he has focused on both bet-the-company complex business litigation as well as complex probate and estate litigation, and other high-stakes matters. He has represented numerous celebrities, athletes, Fortune 500 companies, and Forbes 400 billionaires throughout his distinguished career.
Raymond is experienced in complex commercial litigation probate and trust and estate litigation, and is currently counsel to the Curator overseeing the Estate of Sergio Pino. His practice includes extensive work in both state and federal courts, as well as arbitrations before FINRA, ICDR, and AAA.
Raymond also serves on the boards of several public and private companies, as well as nonprofit organizations. He brings extensive experience advising both emerging growth companies and established enterprises through all stages of their development, including capital raising, corporate governance, complex litigation, directors’ and officers’ liability, e-discovery and information governance, executive compensation and incentive structures, and strategic business operations.
In addition to his legal and advisory work, Raymond has invested in numerous startups and private companies, including an early investment in SpaceX in 2019. His unique perspective as both a trusted legal advisor and active investor enables him to provide practical, business-oriented guidance to management teams, founders, and boards of directors.
